چکیده

Dynamic traitor tracing schemes are used to trace the source of piracy in broadcast environments such as cable TV. Dynamic schemes divide content into a series of watermarked segments that are then broadcast. The broadcast provider can adapt the watermarks according to the pirate’s response and eventually trace him/her. As dynamic algorithms are deterministic, for a given set of inputs, the tracing algorithm will execute exactly the same way each time. An adversary can use this knowledge to ensure that the tracing algorithm is forced into executing at its worst case bound. In this paper we review dynamic traitor tracing schemes and describe why determinism is a problem. We ammend several existing dynamic tracing algorithms by incorporating randomised decisions. This eliminates any advantage an adversary has in terms of the aforementioned attack, as he/she no longers knows exactly how the tracing algorithm will execute. Simulations show that the randomising modifications influence each dynamic algorithm to run at its average case complexity in terms of tracing time. We provide an efficiency analysis of the ammended algorithms and give some recommendations for reducing overhead.

Sequential and dynamic frameproof codes

There are many schemes in the literature for protecting digital data from piracy by the use of digital fingerprinting, such as frameproof codes and traitor-tracing schemes. The concept of traitor tracing has been applied to a digital broadcast setting in the form of dynamic traitor-tracing schemes and sequential traitor-tracing schemes, which could be used to combat piracy of pay-TV broadcasts,...

A Trade-off Traitor Tracing Scheme

There has been a wide-ranging discussion on the issue of content copyright protection in digital content distribution systems. Fiat and Tassa proposed the framework of dynamic traitor tracing. Their framework requires dynamic computation transactions according to the real-time responses of the pirate, and it presumes real-time observation of content redistribution. Therefore, it cannot be simpl...

A Public-Key Traitor Tracing Scheme with Revocation Using Dynamic Shares

We proposed a new public-key traitor tracing scheme with revocation capability using the dynamic share and entity revocation techniques. The enabling block of our scheme is independent of the number of subscribers, but dependent on the collusion and revocation thresholds. Each receiver holds one decryption key only. Our traitor tracing algorithm works in a black-box way and is conceptually simp...

Dynamic frameproof codes

There are many schemes in the literature for protecting digital data from piracy by the use of digital fingerprinting, such as frameproof codes, which prevent traitorous users from colluding to frame an innocent user, and traitortracing schemes, which enable the identification of users involved in piracy. The concept of traitor tracing has been applied to a digital broadcast setting in the form...

Traitor Tracing with Constant Transmission Rate

An important open problem in the area of Traitor Tracing is designing a scheme with constant expansion of the size of keys (users’ keys and the encryption key) and of the size of ciphertexts with respect to the size of the plaintext. This problem is known from the introduction of Traitor Tracing by Chor, Fiat and Naor. We refer to such schemes as traitor tracing with constant transmission rate....
